Whitwell Forward Community Group today announced that the Whitwell Festival of Music will be extended from 2 to 3 days to reflect its growing popularity amongst music lovers and to allow an even greater choice of musical styles over the weekend...

Nearly 900 attended in 2010 taking Saturdays main event sponsored by Whitwell MOT Centre and the Friday night La Farge Acoustic Night which kicked off the weekend. Already a great community event this year promises the usual top quality bands, music workshops and festival stalls but Whitwell Forward are not resting on their laurels and are planning to add more entertainment for families, a Busk Stop, themed fancy dress, a festival website, camping and a Sunday afternoon/tea time slot for Jazz/Blues, so to end the weekend in a mellow mood.

Since the festivals inception in 2009 its popularity has risen incredibly and the organisers, Whitwell Forward, are committed to develop it further and to embed the event in the community and music festival calendar. The development of the festival, originally staged on a shoestring budget with a lot of begging and borrowing involved and a donation for entry, comes at a price, a big price. In an attempt to help secure the future of the festival, Whitwell Forward intend to make a charge of £2.00 for admission at each of the weekends shows. This will in no way meet all the costs involved but will be a great help as funding becomes more and more difficult to access.

Friday 9th September 2011-Acoustic Night (£5.00)
Saturday 10th September 2011-Main event, indoor and outdoor stages (£2.00)
Sunday 11th September 2011-Afternoon Jazz/Blues (£2.00)
